Spring is here!
In the spirit of spring I made a delicious and nutritious smoothie to make me feel energized and satisfied. I love making smoothies when I’m craving something sweet or need a pick-me-up. You can add what your body needs more of that day. Healthy carbs, fats and protein! It’s also a great way to get more greens.
I threw this smoothie together after making a Whole Foods run the other day and picking up a new favorite protein powder of mine, Bone Broth Protein.
My initial reaction was similar to how I react to brussels sprouts. No thanks? But then I realized, wow, this is incredible. Bone Broth Protein has 20g of protein per serving, no carbs or sugars, paleo, good for gut health and the best part?!!
One ingredient: Dehydrated Bone Broth
THAT’S IT. Is it just me or do you hear the protein powder angels singing? If you haven’t read my post on supplements, head there after this to see which protein is best for you. I find this to be incredibly easy on my stomach which is my number one priority. If I feel bloated and worse after drinking a protein smoothie, it didn’t serve its purpose. Am I right?!
Bone Broth is referred to as the new ‘green juice.’ I drink warm bone broth straight up when I’m sick. Why?
I’m glad you asked!
Bone Broth is rich in minerals that support the immune system and contains healing compounds like collagen, glutamine, glycine and proline. The collagen in bone broth heals your gut lining and reduces intestinal inflammation. It also helps with joint inflammation as well! Just don’t knock it until you try it.
I seriously want you to learn about this awesome protein so here is what the experts are saying,
“So, what exactly is Bone Broth Protein™?
Bone Broth Protein begins as a true bone broth liquid. It’s then dehydrated, making it into a concentrated source of high-quality, tasty powder. A quality Bone Broth Protein powder comes with the same benefits of a homemade broth, but it’s also just as beneficial for digestion and even more versatile in so many recipes.
Bone Broth Protein supplies 20 grams of muscle-building protein to support healthy muscle building, maintenance and metabolism.
-Bone broth is one of the world’s best sources of natural collagen. And of course, there’s a whole lot more.
-Gelatin in collagen can support a healthy gut.
-Collagen/gelatin and the amino acids proline, glutamine and arginine help support gut integrity.
-Bone broth’s sulfur and glutathione content can help support healthy detoxification.
-Bone broth contains minerals including potassium, calcium, selenium and magnesium, and is rich in collagen and gelatin to support healthy connective tissue and healthy skin.”

Basically it’s the best.
When any of us make a smoothie, do we really measure how much we use of each ingredient? I’m always throwing things in the blender hoping it turns out, and this did!
So that brings me to my

And no, it does not taste like broth from chicken noodle soup.
Smoothies can serve many purposes. To rehydrate, replenish, restore, refuel, energize, even to reduce inflammation and joint pain. The list goes on! If you have a specific issue you would like resolved, I truly believe that food is medicine. Let me know and I would LOVE to share a smoothie with healing benefits for you. Bottoms Up!
