Can I just get an amen for 60 and sunny lately? I think I can finally put the Sorel’s away and man, let me tell you, it feels goooooood.
When spring and summer come around I become a walking billboard for health. I got my Adidas laced, my lemon water, my bike, and a fresh smoothie. Maybe a sneaky little iced coffee, too.
I had my ‘bachelorette party’ this past weekend.
HUH?
Long story short, it didn’t work out before my wedding. I don’t find it appealing to open gifts in front of a room full of people. It’s awkward. Am I alone on that? I also didn’t want to drink out of penis straws all night and dance on tables.
(Oh my gosh, am I getting old?)
We went on a limo wine tour, it was a lot of fun! I think we all realized that we either day drink or night drink because we’re not 18 anymore and can’t do both.
A lot of lessons learned this weekend.
I had some delicious local wine and some $13.99 champagne, it was awesome.
So today I wanted to make a healthy smoothie to bring me back to life and get rid of bloat. I love using ginger and lemon to make that happen.
Lemon has SO many benefits it’s nuts. In all my smoothies I keep the rind/peel on the lemon and throw the whole thing in the blender. Don’t ask, just trust me.
After consuming alcohol which is highly acidic, (read my post about acid vs. alkaline here) I need to neutralize my pH levels in my body. I try to consume lemon when I can because it’s extremely high in alkaline. Whether it’s sipping on lemon water or throwing it my smoothies.
Benefits of lemon with the rind:
high in alkaline once consumed & metabolized
high in vitamins, fiber & minerals ( the rind contains 5-10x more vitamins than the juice )
good for digestion
even better for your liver
natural detox
improves skin
extremely hydrating
I also throw ginger in this smoothie making it so fresh, so clean.
Benefits of ginger:
anti-inflammatory, reducing any swelling in your body
joint pain
muscle soreness and fatigue
lowers blood sugar
bye-bye cramps
fights infections
You can see why this smoothie is pure gold.
Enjoy as breakfast on-the-go or a mid afternoon snack!

If you don’t have a high power blender, feel free to peel your lemon!
I love the color of this smoothie – so bright.
Let me know if you try this and how you like it! I’m off to do kickboxing.
