If you know me, you know that smoothies are happening a lot in my house. They’re one of the many things I look forward to. I love coming up with new recipes and sharing them with you!
A typical smoothie you can find me having has fruit, and lots of it. Which I’m all for. I love fruit, regardless of the sugar it has, it’s never scared me off. This smoothie, however, I replaced the sugary fruit with fats that keep me full and energized.
Vital Proteins was kind enough to send me some of their Collagen powders and I have been loving them up. What is Collagen? I’m glad you asked!
“Collagen is the vital building block of our bodies including skin, hair, nails, bones, and joints. Our bodies cannot synthesize enough collagen on their own and our diets today contain minimal collagen.”
For this smoothie, I used the Vanilla & Coconut Water Collagen Peptides. “Vital Proteins Collagen Peptides (Vanilla & Coconut Water) are sourced from grass-fed, pasture-raised bovine hides to ensure a natural, high quality, and sustainable source of this nutrient.”
Not only does this have 18g of protein per serving, but it’s gluten free, dairy free, paleo friendly, (my fav), whole30 approved, and no added sugar. YEAH, BABY!
They have a range of collagen goodies to add to smoothies, to your water, coffee, or baked goods. They also have unflavored options, which is great if you don’t want to mess up the flavoring of something.
“Coconut oil improves digestion by helping the body to absorb fat-soluble vitamins, calcium, and magnesium. If coconut oil is taken at the same time as Omega-3 fatty acids, (chia seeds) it can make them doubly effective. Coconut oil can also help improve bacteria and gut health by destroying bad bacteria and candida. Coconut oil is used in many natural beauty products, and for good reason: It’s naturally antibacterial and antifungal, coconut oil for skin is an excellent moisturizer, it can penetrate hair better than other oils.”
