Hi!
Before I get into today’s post, I want to share a success story with you! One of our clients, Nate, just won $500 in our most recent 6 week challenge.
Even better than that? In 6 weeks he lost over 19 pounds and 4% body fat! When asked what helped him get there, he said, “I stopped drinking soda.” Along with eating healthier and exercise, of course.
Watch the video here
His first week of saying bye-bye to soda, he lost 9 pounds.
That’s CRAZY and it just shows what soda does to your body. Soda is not your friend.
I am your friend, soda is not. I want to give you some of my favorite drinks (besides water) that give you flavor without the awful side effects.
I used to always drink soda, or ‘pop’ as I like to call it. 🙂 I was never a Coke or Pepsi fan but Mt. Dew, Dr. Pepper, and Sprite ran through my veins. My best friend’s mom from high school used to fill up the fridge with my favorite pop although none of their family drank that kind. How awesome is that?
I knew it was bad for me but I didn’t know how bad it really was.
OR maybe I did and I just didn’t care. As I was trying to lose weight in college, I cut out soda and alcohol. I noticed my progress came much quicker but there’s no denying sometimes I missed that carbonation and flavor.
Since then I’ve found some drinks that satisfy me. Although, I never crave soda anymore. In fact, the thought of it literally makes me gag. I don’t know if it’s the sugar coating my teeth or my arteries. Either way, I haven’t touched the stuff in years.
I drink anywhere from 1-2 gallons of water per day. It’s just easy for me now. Once you start something, it becomes a habit. Water is SO important and none of these drinks should replace water. For those days where you just crave some extra flavor here are a few drinks that taste good and benefit you as well.
A sparkling probiotic drink. It’s so refreshing and light. They have a ton of flavors and can be found at almost any grocery store. I found them to be cheapest at Target. Probiotic drinks are great for gut health and bringing good bacteria to your body!
Similar to Kevita, full of probiotics and good bacteria. Kombucha is particularly good for,
Kombucha comes in a ton of flavors and brands. You can even make your own! My brother in-law has been making some lately and it’s amazing and much cheaper.
I love fresh juice. Whether I make it or buy it, there is nothing more energizing and refreshing than real juice.
Side Note: Naked Juice does not = Real Juice.
Back to what I was saying,
Juice has so many benefits and I’ll be doing a post on what juicing really does for your body soon! You can make juice as green or as sweet as you want.
I’ll be sharing many juice recipes but this is my favorite brand to grab on the go!
ALOE VERA DRINK
Aloe Vera Water has a ton of nutrients and benefits,
It’s extremely high in alkalinity! (speaking of, keep an eye out for next week when I share the difference between acidic and alkaline)
However, I wouldn’t recommend drinking an entire bottle at once. It’s really good for digestion.
Another drink is sparkling water. I remember the first sparkling water I had. It was when I did Whole30 a couple years ago and by day 5 I was dying. I couldn’t have my coffee creamer, my peanut butter, my wine?!?!?! I needed something and a friend recommended LaCroix. I had my hopes up for a flavor burst of carbonated magic.
Let’s be real, your first time having sparkling water, it’s definitely not a ‘wow my life is forever changed’ moment but when you’re deep into Whole30 it definitely helps.
I hope this gave you some fun ideas to replace soda and help with those cravings. I have a fun post about what fruit and veggies to add to your water for certain pain in the body and overall deliciousness. Yes, deliciousness.
i.e. inflammation, digestion, and joint pain.
Fun stuff, guys.
I’m off to watch basketball because there’s no way around it at this point. March Madness has taken over my Food Network time and I am less than thrilled.
Have a great weekend!
all my love,
