Oh, my heart.
Our sweet slice of paradise, St. Lucia.
Following our wedding in Mexico, we spent an extra three days at our resort before heading to St. Lucia. The best part about this trip was not knowing where we were about to go. I had our travel planner pick a destination and we just showed up.
Daring, I know, but the best experience ever.
Ladera Resort in St. Lucia stole my heart. I think on honeymoon’s your new hubby should steal your heart but that happened a long time ago. We were surrounded by clear blue water, mountains, volcanos, and a tropical breeze. The lizards and geckos became our house pets and the perfect 82 and sunny had us begging to stay forever. Our resort was in the middle of the rainforest with three walls. I mean, come on?!
View from the upstairs of our suite.
It was amazing how peaceful, calm, private, and comfortable is was to sleep outside. A perfect breeze throughout the entire day and night. Never muggy, never humid. A++
When we arrived at Ladera, we were greeted with a warm smile and a welcome drink made of fresh ingredients grown on the resort. Everywhere you turned there were fresh herbs and plants. They first showed us cinnamon by pulling the leaf of the tree and breaking it up releasing a strong and perfect cinnamon smell.
I felt like I was swimming in a sea of cinnamon every time I walked by. A dream come true.
Walking into our hilltop suite for the first was an out-of-body experience. I know I’m dramatic, but I swear I started floating.
The view didn’t end! We were surrounded by mountains and trees of all types. The Caribbean Sea laid in the middle and we didn’t leave the entire night.
Champagne, along with their local Piton beer and a fresh fruit plate were waiting for us by the pool in our room. We spent the rest of the night soaking in the views and thanking Jesus over and over.
We enjoyed delicious food, fresh smoothies, snorkeling, hiking, hot tubbing, and exploring. Everything there is fresh and local, farm to table. From the coffee to the 40 different types of mangos.
Every morning we started our day with the best breakfast on the island with the best views. Fresh juice, fruit, and pastries followed by eggs benedict and banana pancakes. Mornings there were our favorite by far. The juice was freshly made and served with simple syrup for sweetness if it were ever too sour. They kept squirt guns at each table to keep the birds from drinking it but we didn’t need the sweetness so why not share?
St. Lucia was our honeymoon spot and it just fueled our desire to travel even more. It was the perfect way to end the hustle and bustle of moving and wedding planning. We’ve been itching to see and explore ever since.
This trip was nothing short of romantic and relaxing. I only dreamed of going places like St. Lucia and now it’s only the beginning!
We put together a vlog of our trip – can’t wait to share soon.
Until next time, St. Lucia.
