Oh boy, this could either be extremely good or extremely bad.
I’m so excited to bring Sips to the Fit Freedom Lifestyle. As you may know, this is a balanced lifestyle blog, and part of my lifestyle is enjoying my favorite drinks. I don’t believe in depriving yourself of anything but I do believe in finding healthier alternatives!
Is drinking good for you? Will it ever increase your performance? Will it ever benefit you in any way, shape, or form.
The answer is obviously no to all the above. I don’t drink every weekend, I barely drink a couple times a month. However, it’s something I enjoy every once in a while and if you’re like me and want a healthier alternative, this is for you! I’ll be sharing my favorite drinks for the seasons and what to order when you’re out at a bar or restaurant.
I used to be a huge beer drinker and somewhere along the line, I switched to wine and clear liquor. I have a hard time smelling beer now, which if you knew me in high school and college, you’d be very confused by that. S/O Keystone Light.
When I was trying to be healthier and lose weight, I stopped drinking for only one month and dropped weight quicker than I thought possible. Once I reached my goals, I started to incorporate drinks on occasion into my lifestyle and have been able to maintain since then. I stopped binge drinking and that has created a much healthier relationship with alcohol, leaving me in control. There is so much more to life and my weekends than shoving drinks down my throat. I’ve never been happier!
So with that said, let’s get into this Skinny Watermelon Mojito. I use fresh and local — from the Rum to the fruit, this sweet and refreshing drink screams summer.
SCREAMS summer, guys. It’s almost too good.
Mojito’s normally contain sugar, which you can totally add if it’s not sweet enough or you. I picked a watermelon that was perfectly sweet, giving it a natural sweetness. I would recommend using raw organic cane sugar, or coconut sugar if you need to. I don’t like my drinks to be too sweet. When it starts to coat your teeth, you’ve gone too far.
This is perfect for any time of the day, honestly. I’m thinking weekend brunch?! I use a locally made Rum (you can find that here) I bought mine at Whole Foods and it is perfect for this mojito.

TIP: If the watermelon isn’t sweet enough, add about 1/2-1 tsp of the sugar I mentioned above. Try it without the sugar first!
