Mmm, Chia Seeds. What would we do without you?!
If you’re anything like me and need to be snacking the majority of your day, and this stuff is the real deal. Let me share with you why Chia Seeds are so BOMB.
Skin & Aging // What we put in our bodies plays the biggest role in our appearance. That also means skin, hair, & nails. Foods with antioxidants are just screaming to be noticed. They want to make your skin glow and prevent wrinkles and fine lines from appearing as much as they can. Chia Seeds are one of natures riches antioxidants. Helping to prevent premature skin aging.
SCORE!
Digestive Health // Chia Seeds are loaded with fiber. We all know that fiber is great for digestive health. Not only that BUT chai absorbs any liquid in its path. Meaning when it’s in our stomachs it expands. Keeping us full and satisfied longer.
Heart // Healthy fats is what every heart needs. With more Omega-3’s than salmon. Chia boosts and protects that big ole’ heart of yours! Omega-3’s work to protect the heart by lowering blood pressure, bad cholesterol, and inflammation.
No, the list is not over
Energy & Metabolism // Chia seeds burn belly fat and boost your metabolism.
Need I say more?!…I don’t, but I’m going to.
Stronger Bones // I often get asked, “well if I shouldn’t have dairy, then how am I suppose to get calcium!?” *rolling my eyes* There are SO many healthier better ways to get your calcium. And one example would be chia seeds. Over 18% of the recommended daily calcium intake in just one ounce. I promise, you’ll be stronger than ever when you give up dairy.
Build Muscle, Lean Out // And just when we thought this tiny seed couldn’t be any more powerful, it is. With more protein then some plant based sources of protein, it’s prefect for after a workout, or snack.
Since Chia Seeds are so high in antioxidants, they replace those nutrients lost when exercising. They’re able to absorb 10x their own weight in water. Because of this, they can keep you hydrated for longer and you’re able to absorb electrolytes easier.
If I haven’t convinced you by now to incorporate Chia Seeds in your diet, I don’t know what else to do.
Raw or Soaked
Although they can be consumed both raw or soaked, I prefer the latter. Your body can digest them much easier if they are soaked. It also helps to release all those awesome nutrients.
You just can’t go wrong.
That brings me to my favorite way to make Chia Seeds.
I’m sure a lot of you have heard or have even made Chia Seed Pudding on occasion & there are a million ways to do it! Here’s mine.
