BIRTHDAY GETAWAY / 09/21/16
I may be bias, but I have one of the most hardworking, passionate, dedicated, and generous souls as my love. His desire to serve
others is made very evident with every being he comes across.
This is the second birthday I’ve had the pleasure of sharing with Jon. I wanted to do something for him that made him feel relaxed, and special. I wanted to spend it somewhere beautiful and peaceful where he didn’t have to think of anything other than which shoe goes on what foot.
Where else but Vail, Colorado?!
Vail in late September is straight from a post card. The trees were screaming autumn & and the air was crisp and fresh.
That sorel-boots-sweater-mittens-hot-cocoa kind of weather…. Otherwise known has
I-have-lost-all-motivation weather.
We started his birthday in Denver with breakfast at Etai’s Bakery & Cafe, followed by coffee and life talks. We drove to Vail just in time for a round of golf. This was the type of golf course that required skill. We made it to hole 7 before we lost all of our balls.
But it was SO much fun.
With each trip we take, we want adventure. We can’t leave until we do something that scares the pee down our legs. For me, that was Zip Lining.
When I pictured Zip Lining, I imaged you throw a string around another, longer string and slide to your death…..anyone else?
Turns out you get to wear a harness! In fact, we wore TWO just in case one broke.
Besides signing the form that said, “you are aware that this may cause injury or even death” It wasn’t scary at all. It was SO MUCH FUN, not to mention we did it in one of the most beautiful places.
The rest of the trip included; delicious but overly priced food, exploring, bowling in clubs, movies, fireplaces, hot tubs, and wine. It was the perfect getaway.
I like to call this trip, “the turning point.” For as long as I can remember, all I wanted to do was travel. I grew up in an amazing small town, but didn’t venture far. I’ve always been the “anywhere but here” kind of girl. There’s so much to be explored, and so much to learn! I can’t explain to you the desire both Jon and I have to travel and immerse ourselves in culture, and people. To spread the Word of Jesus. To not limit ourselves to just one thing, or just one place. That’s our ultimate goal and the more we travel the more we realize how many people we can touch.
I haven’t been many places, but I know I will be. And when I get there, I’m going to capture its beauty and culture in a way where you feel like you’re there with me.
So many trips in the making for 2017-18 and i’m so excited to share them with you!
all my love,
